Facebook Developers London October 2012

Date:
2 days 8 hours ago

We're back after the summer and the fantastic London 2012, with our new event and organisation names - Facebook Developers London events, hosted by Social Developers London, and a new monthly night (second Wednesday). We're the same people putting on the same great events, at our new venue at Google Campus (close to Old Street, Shoreditch High Street, Moorgate and Liverpool Street stations), right in the heart of London's digital and start-up hub, Silicon Roundabout.

To celebrate our new location, all tickets are priced at just £5, which includes pizza that will be served during the evening. A cash bar will be available for alcoholic and soft drinks.

Our guest speakers/talks will be announced soon.

Committee member and Facebook application developer Eamonn Gahan will take us through all the important platform updates since our last event, freelance developer and our secretary Dave Nattriss will cover the hottest apps and pages on Facebook, and starting everything off, SDL Chairman and host for the evening Todd Chaffee will give us a quick update on general Facebook and other social platform news. The talks will begin at 7pm.

We’ll have our now regular 'show and share' section later on where you can give a quick talk/demo about whatever you’ve been working on - just sign up on the board at the front of the talk room to share anything Facebook or social media related with the audience. You can talk for up to two minutes, and can show slides from your computer if you’ve got a VGA connection, or use a browser on ours.

Our events often sell out within days, so be quick to buy your ticket(s). We'll go for after-drinks at The Windmill over the road for those that want to wind down afterwards.

Tickets are available at http://fdloctober2012-websiteeventdescription.eventbrite.co.uk - you must buy in advance to guarantee entry on the night.

If you miss out on or can't make this one, we look forward to seeing you at our next event, taking place in November.

As always we are grateful for the sponsorship of our events - thanks to our new venue sponsors Central Working. If your organisation is interested in sponsoring us, please contact us for more information.

Facebook Developer Garage London at Social Media World Forum Europe 2012

Date:
28 weeks 3 days ago

2011’s Social Media World Forum Europe attracted 4,000 marketers, consultants and social media enthusiasts to the Olympia Conference Centre in London, summing up 2011 as the year of companies beginning to understand what their goals should be in social media. The biggest change over 2011 was that at the start of the year most of the big FTSE-100-type companies were virtually non-existent on Facebook. And 2012 will see many brands increase budgets dedicated to social at the expense of other media.

To address these issues and guide you on how to use social media to your best advantage, a team from Facebook Developer Garage London will be at SMWF this year and featuring in the FREE TO ATTEND Marketing Tech Track to present workshops on successful Facebook campaigns and to handle delegate queries related to the Facebook Platform. This will be led by Geoff Hughes and Candy Chen Shuhui from Social Clay.

Workshop agenda:

  • Getting out of first gear: an overview of what the core and advanced Facebook ecosystem consists of. If you're not using all these tools that Facebook provides you are running inefficiently.
  • Measuring today to prepare for tomorrow. Set your objectives and allocate budget to measuring these key performance criteria before you start. You are now in a position to understand which parts of your initiative worked out and which bits did not.
  • Next period planning: Using the collection of stats you can now be more scientific in your approach. Use yesterday's data to plan tomorrow's initiative. We take a look at what worked and what did not to give you a head start.
  • Sean Parker said in ‘The Social Network’: "You don't want to ruin Facebook with ads because ads aren't cool." Fast-forward to 2012, ads are everywhere on Facebook, so can we make ads cool?

You will need to register for FREE to attend the workshop. This will also provide you access to the Marketing Tech Tool Box featuring speakers from BBC, Pizza Express, Microsoft and the full exhibition.

FDGL workshop times:

  • Tuesday 27th March, 11:15 – 11:45
  • Wednesday 28th March, 11:10 – 12:10

We hope to see you there!

Facebook Developer Garage London f8 2011 special

Date:
1 year 3 weeks ago

As you may already know, Facebook are holding f8 (their developer conference), for the fourth time on Thursday 22nd September in San Francisco. The event starts with a 90 minute keynote, and as we've done in the past, we're holding a special event in London where we will screen it live for everyone who can't make it over there. This replaces our scheduled regular garage event that was to take place on Wednesday (21st), and due to London Fashion Week, we'll be using a different venue instead.

Doors will open from 5:30pm as the keynote is scheduled to begin at 6pm (BST), and we expect to wrap up the whole evening at 9pm or so. The venue is Glaziers Hall, right next to the river on the south bank and just to the west of London Bridge itself.

Our events sell out each time within days, so be quick to buy your ticket(s). We'll have beer, wine, juice and pizza, and will go for after-drinks at a nearby pub for those that want to wind down afterwards.

You must buy tickets in advance to guarantee entry on the night. Earlybird tickets are available until Friday before the event, subject to quota. With the change of content, date, time and venue, if you need a refund, please contact us via the link at the top or right of this page.

Our normal garage events will resume in October, with the next one currently scheduled for Wednesday 19th October, back at Freemasons' Hall - we'll let you know when tickets are on sale.

As always we are grateful for the sponsorship of our events, which could not happen without their help. Thanks to our regular sponsors Accel Partners, Gameroff, Adknowledge, Syncapse, iPlatform and Logicode, and our media partner Newspepper. If your organisation is interested in sponsoring us, please e-mail for more information.
